Wreck Beach chillin

Wreck beach!!

What other school can you think of that has its own beach??

Wreck beach is a short walk from campus and I have frequently visited during lunch breaks at work on particularly sunny days. About a week ago, the Aquatic Ecosystem Research lab (where I work) partnered with the Vancouver Aquarium to partake in Canada beach clean up day! We brought down trash bags and picked up a ton of trash.

The beach is "clothing optional", and every time I have gone there I've seen at least one person all out in da birthday suit. However, this past Sunday, an absolutely beautiful Sunday, there were a TON of people out on the beach and a lot of nakey peeps.

"This 7.8 kilometers long, wilderness-like beach, which follows a promontory below an emerald-green forested, 200-foot high cliff system magnificently weathered to beauty, is Canada's first and largest, legal, clothing-optional beach and is a Mecca to visitors from around the world!" - https://www.wreckbeach.org/archive/main2.html

The beach is secluded and the water is much cleaner than the beaches in Kitsilano (where large ships frequently pass through). However, getting to the beach involves going down a lot of stairs, but I think that adds to the appeal for those looking for a more secluded beach. We brought down a slackline to put up between two posts, a good book to read, and some yummy snacks! We had a great time ! We didn't really feel like going all out nude tho...
