Sunday: Stanley park strolls and Seymour skiing

A March sunny Sunday in Vancouver means that it’s easy to enjoy the beach and mountains in the same day.  My sister and I took the bus to Stanley park, a huge park in the heart of Vancouver, to enjoy the sun. We walked along the path around the park on the ocean taking in the views of the city, mountains, and ocean. It was an absolutely beautiful day out and a ton of people were out enjoying the sun. We walked about halfway around the peninsula and then turned into the forest to walk through the trees. We ended up walking about 6 miles (way more than we were planning) and it was so worth it. We packed PB&Js and some granola bars and had a nice lunch by the beach.

On the bus ride back to my house, we passed the famous Vancouver donut shop, Cartem’s, and had to stop. It was a fabulous decision; those donuts are TASTY (especially the earl grey flavor 😋).

Since the day was so clear, we thought that night skiing would offer some absolutely insane views of the city. We were right. We managed to arrive at Mt. Seymour (~45 min from Vancouver) just before the sunset. Seymour offers night skiing for the best price ($27) and has some good park features. We took a couple of runs in the daylight and then sat down at the top for the real show. My sister and my roommate both brought their nice cameras and got some amazing shots of the sun setting over Vancouver. It was a surreal experience (the pictures don’t even do it complete justice). The view itself was worth the trip up there, the skiing was just the cherry on top.

This Sunday really made me realize how much Vancouver has to offer. The fact that we were on a beach in t-shirts just an hour before we were on a mountain in full ski gear blows my mind. I can’t wait for more sunny days in Vancouver!

  2. Thanks for the comment paul! I wrote about her the week before but wanted to include our Sunday activities after I had written the earlier post! I appreciate the attention to detail, love to see that.
